The American University women's basketball team rolled to its
sixth straight win, defeating Boston U., 69-44, on Wednesday night
in Bender Arena.

Zimmerman tallied her second double-double of the
season with a game-high 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jen Dumiak
also reached double-figures for the Eagles with 10 points.

Holmes and Sarah
Kiely chipped in nine points apiece and Dobbs recorded
a team-best six assists with three steals.
"It's a good win going into Army and Navy so I think our players
are confident in themselves and just by the stat sheet there was a
lot of balance in our scoring and I think that's something that
we've tried to preach to them all year," said Head Coach Megan Gebbia. "If we can continue this type of
scoring next two weeks into the tournament I think we'll be in good
shape."
Holmes registered the first bucket of the game for American
(19-7, 12-3) and the Eagles took an 8-6 edge on consecutive buckets
by Dumiak at the 15:01 mark. The Terriers knotted it up on a jumper
by Rashidat Agboola but Dobbs hit her first triple of the game to
give American back the lead, forcing a Boston U. timeout. Kiely
posted five straight points to give the Eagles a 21-11 advantage
with 7:58 to play.
Dobbs and Ti'Asia
McGeorge drilled in back-to-back triples for the 31-17
advantage with 1:18 to play as the Terriers called its third
timeout. Zimmerman hit a pair of free throws to close out the half
and send the Eagles into the break with a 33-17 lead.
American shot 42.9 percent from the floor and were 5-of-12 from
3-point range. Boston (11-17, 6-9) shot 25.9 percent in the first
half and went just 1-of-12 from beyond the arc.
The Eagles came out of the intermission on a 14-1 run, holding
the Terriers without a score from the field for the first six
minutes of the half. Agboola ended Boston's drought and the
Terriers began to chip away at the American lead, using a 7-0 run
to put the score at 54-34 with 6:50 to play.
Lauren
Crisler hit her first triple of the game to end the
streak and Zimmerman and Ari Booth
added treys for the 63-38 advantage with 2:55 remaining in the
game. Sarah Hope answered with a 3-pointer of her own for Boston
but the Eagles went on to win, 69-44, with a Jordan
Light triple closing out the scoring in the game.
Agboola and Melissa Gallo led the Terriers with 12 points apiece
and Agboola also registered a team-best six boards.
American outshot Boston 41.4 to 33.3 percent from the field and
44.0 to 18.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Eagles held a 42-31
advantage on the glass and also dished out a season-high 23 assists
in the win.
American heads out on the road next to take on Army on Saturday,
Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the Patriot League
Network.
