ANNAPOLIS, Md. – American University's distance medley relay team opened the 2014-15 indoor track season in style Saturday by winning its event to highlight Eagle performances at the Navy Invitational.
Sophomore
Brendan Johnson picked up AU's best individual finish of the day, placing fourth in the 1,500 meters. He ran 4:04.04 in his first 1,500 of the season.
American got three top-10 finishes in the 3,000, as
Joshua Ellis was fifth (8:29.24), freshman
Jim Belfatto was seventh in his collegiate debut (8:40.07) and
Peter Rowe was eighth (8:41.64).
Green also had a solid collegiate debut, leading his teammates with a 12th-place finish in the 800 at 1:58.15.
Samuel Doud, also a freshman, was 10th in the 5,000 at 15:49.32.
American will return to Navy's Wesley Brown Field House for its next competition on Jan. 10, 2015.
