The American University indoor track teams picked up three
individual titles and registered 11 top 10 finishes at the Terrapin
Invitational on Saturday afternoon in College Park, Md.
Nick Regan and Tom Woermer brought home individual
titles in the mile and 3,000 meter run, respectively, to lead the
men's team. Regan led three top 10 finishers in the mile with a
mark of 4:19.93. Brendan Johnson earned a runner-up finish in
4:25.83 while Brandon Latham placed 10th in 4:35.28. Woermer
won the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:49.71, edging out teammate
John Pope (8:52.58) for the top
spot.
The men's team also posted a pair of top-10 marks in the 800
meter run. Peter Rowe placed fifth in
1:57.78 while Constantine Matsakis was ninth in
2:00.31.
Julia Sullivan led the women's
team at the event, winning the 3,000 meter run in a personal-best
10:04.21. Corina Velazco rounded out the
top five placewinners in the event with a time of
10:19.13.
Krystal Foster and Kelseagh Budris also posted top times
for the Eagles. Foster was seventh in the mile with a personal-best
5:21.40. Budris crossed the line in 2:25.71 to finish ninth in the
800 meter run.
The men's team finished sixth overall while the women's team
placed 11th in the team standings. Johns Hopkins edged out Howard
for the men's title with 117 points and Maryland finished first in
the women's standings with 170 points.
