American University lacrosse goalkeeper Teal Harrison was named the Patriot
League Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.
The freshman was also recognized as the AU Student-Athlete of the
Week Presented by GEICO by Department of Athletics officials.
Harrison led American to its first two victories of the season
last week. The Columbus, Ohio native tallied seven saves between
the pipes for the Eagles in a 16-4 rout of Coastal Carolina on
Wednesday. Harrison returned to action on Saturday to help American
win its Patriot League opener, notching five saves in a 16-8
victory over Holy Cross. She finished the week with a .500 save
percentage, stopping 12 shots in the two contests.
The Rookie of the Week nod is the goalkeeper's first of
her career and the first for an American student-athlete since
2010.
Harrison and the Eagles will return to action on Saturday, March
23 when it heads to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate at 1 p.m.
