Junior lacrosse student-athlete Emily Maher was named the Patriot League Midfield Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. Maher was also recognized as the American University Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO by Department of Athletics officials.
Maher had a solid opening week for the Eagles, filling the stat sheet in American's two losses. The Sellersville, Pa. native tallied two goals and collected one ground ball with six draw controls in the season opener at William & Mary on Wednesday. She then matched the team-high with four points on Saturday afternoon, posting two goals and two assists, and notched three ground balls and five draw controls in the home opener against UMBC.
This is Maher's first career Midfield Player of the Week award.
Maher and the Eagles will return to Jacobs Field on Sunday, February 24 to host High Point at 11 a.m.
