Terao Leads Wrestling with Eighth Place Result at Southern Scuffle

No. 20 David Terao was the lone placewinner for the American University wrestling team at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn., finishing eighth in the tournament. 

Terao opened the second day of competition pinning North Carolina's Brian Bokoski in 1:21. He then dropped a 2-1 decision in extra time to Old Dominion's Rob Deutsch in the consolation quarterfinals. In the seventh/eighth place bout Terao faced Campbell's Eric Montoya, where he ended up on the short end of a 4-2 decision in sudden victory overtime.

Kevin Tao also advanced to the second day of competition at the Southern Scuffle. He dropped a 9-1 major decision to No. 18 Drake Houdashelt of Missouri in his first match of the day. 

American finished 15th out of 24 teams in the final standings.

The Eagles will return to Bender Arena for three straight dual meets, taking on EIWA opponent Harvard on Friday, January 11 at 7 p.m. before facing Stanford and Lehigh on Sunday, January 13 at 12 and 2 p.m. All three matches will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision TV.
