Box Score The American University lacrosse team concluded the regular season with a 14-4 loss to No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday afternoon. Kimberly Collins netted a team-high two goals for the Eagles.
Ohio State (10-4, 1-3) opened the game on a 5-0 run before Collins tallied her first goal of the day off a feed from Lauren Schoenberger. The Buckeyes scored four more to take a 9-1 lead with Schoenberger ending the run with 2:44 left to play in the first half. Ohio State's Jackie Cifarelli added one more for the 10-2 advantage at the intermission.
Collins found the back of the net once again for American (7-9, 3-3) just under a minute and a half into the second period but the Buckeyes responded with three consecutive goals for the 13-3 lead at 20:29. Samantha Marshall added American's final goal of the day before the Buckeyes closed out the scoring for the 14-4 final mark.
Paige Lin matched her career-high with five draw controls on the day as Laura Dawson tallied a team-high two caused turnovers. Mia Rosen recorded a career-high eight saves in her first collegiate start between the pipes for American.
Gabby Capuzzi and Cara Facchina each led the Buckeyes with a hat trick. Ohio State held a 12-8 advantage in draw controls and a 11-7 advantage in ground balls collected.
The Eagles will be the fourth seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament at Navy and will take on the top-seeded Navy Midshipmen on Friday, April 27 at 5 p.m.
