Box Score The American University lacrosse team never trailed and tallied its largest offensive output of the season on its way to a 22-9 victory over Bucknell on Saturday.
Emily Burton and Kimberly Collins led the Eagles with four goals apiece while Emily Maher and Jamie Silverman each tallied a hat trick.
Bucknell (3-8, 0-3) answered the Eagles goal for goal early in the game but American went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-4 lead at the end of the first half.
American (6-4, 2-1) opened the second half with an unassisted goal from Emily Stankiewicz to go up eight before back-to-back goals from Arriana Sajjad with 23:20 left to play cut the Eagles' lead to 12-6.
The Bison cut it to six again but American went on a 5-0 run and held Bucknell scoreless for over nine minutes to take an 19-8 lead. The Bison ended the run with another goal from Sajjad with 5:13 remaining. The Eagles closed out the game with three straight goals for the 22-9 final score.
Collins and Lauren Schoenberger each posted a team-high three assists for the Eagles. Stankiewicz had a team-high four caused turnovers and Laura Dawson had five ground balls with Kaska Komosinski tallying six saves in the win.
Sajjad led the Bison with five goals in the game.
The Eagles will return to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. to take on No. 13/12 Georgetown before hosting back-to-back home games on Saturday, March 31 against Lehigh and Saturday, April 7 against Lafayette.
