The Eagles (6-5, 2-2) are coming off a 13-6 loss at Lehigh that snapped the team's two-game winning streak. In the defeat, Lisa Schaaf and Bernadette Maher paced the American offensive attack with two goals apiece. On the defensive end, Paige Lin and Emily Stankiewicz each caused three turnovers, while Samantha Marshall scooped up three ground balls. Kaska Komosinski recorded eight saves on the afternoon.
On the season, Marshall has scored a team-high 22 goals, while Maher has netted 21. Stankiewicz leads the defense, as the junior midfielder is tops on the team in ground balls (26) and caused turnovers (18). Komosinski has played 644 of a possible 660 minutes on the year, and has a 10.71 goals against average with 63 saves.
George Mason enters Tuesday's tilt at 2-7 overall and with a 0-1 mark in the CAA. Key Patriots include Emily Ellisen, who leads the team with 19 goals and 22 points, and Caitlin Hoffen, who has 15 ground balls on the year and 10 caused turnovers. In goal, Brittany Pastrana has a 14.58 goals against average and a .389 save percentage.
American is 2-15 all-time against George Mason, with the Eagles' last victory coming in 1999. Last season, the Patriots earned a 13-9 victory over American despite three goals from Schaaf and two from Marshall.
