Box Score The American University lacrosse team will host Liberty at Jacobs Field on Tuesday, April 19 at 4:00 p.m. Prior to the match, the team will honor the accomplishments of its four senior student-athletes.
The Eagles (7-7, 3-3) finished the Patriot League regular season on Wednesday with an 11-10 loss to Navy in the final minute. Kimberly Collins started off the scoring just over one minute into the game and would finish out the day with four goals. Kaska Komosinski registered a season-high 11 saves in goal, while Samantha Marshall and Emily Stankiewicz each added two caused turnovers.
Despite the loss, the Eagles will advance to the 2011 Patriot League Tournament beginning April 29, where they will be the fourth seed.
Collins has remained an integral part of American's offense throughout the season and leads the team with 34 points on 20 goals and 14 assists, while Bernadette Maher and Marshall have each tallied 28 points. Maher has recorded 26 goals and two helpers and Marshall has added 24 goals with four helpers.
On the defensive end, Stankiewicz has been a consistent force for the Eagles. She currently ranks second in the Patriot League with 1.70 caused turnovers per game and third with 2.86 ground balls per game, in addition to recording 14 goals and 26 draw controls this season. Komosinski holds a 7-7 record in goal with a 10.55 goals against average.
Liberty has a 5-8 overall record this season, losing their last game to High Point on Wednesday, 17-4. The Flames have been led by Kristin Crowley, who has recorded 28 points on 24 goals and four assists this season. Chloe McIntosh and Jen Freymond have each added 30 ground balls on defense, while Kristen Masullo owns a 14.15 goals against average with a 4-8 record in goal.
