Box Score The American University lacrosse team returns to Jacobs Field on Wednesday, April 13 to take on Navy at 4:00 p.m. with the winner clinching a spot in the 2011 Patriot League Tournament.
The Eagles (7-6, 3-2) are coming off a 10-9 victory over Lafayette on Saturday, and will look to earn their fourth conference win of the season. Lauren Schoenberger led American with three goals while Bernadette Maher added two goals, four draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. The Eagles held a 7-4 lead going into the half and withstood the Leopards' two-goal rally in the final minutes for the win.
Kimberly Collins leads the attack this season with 30 points on 16 goals and 14 assists, while Maher and Samantha Marshall have each tallied 27 points. Maher also leads the team in goals with 25. Marshall has contributed 23 goals and four helpers.
American's defense has remained solid this season as well, and ranks second in the Patriot League with 9.00 caused turnovers per game. Emily Stankiewicz leads the Patriot League with 2.92 ground balls per game, and also ranks second in the League with 1.77 caused turnovers. She has added 13 goals and 24 draw controls for the Eagles. Goalkeeper Kaska Komosinski has recorded a 10.52 goals against average and owns a 7-6 record.
Navy enters the match with a 10-4 overall record and 3-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Midshipmen are coming off a 14-11 win on Saturday over Colgate, which placed the teams in a three-way tie with Lehigh for first place in the conference. Jasmine DePompeo leads the team with 64 points on 39 goals and 25 assists, while Aimee Gennaro has recorded 56 points on 42 goals and 14 assists. Elaina Ponchione is 9-4 in goal with a 8.88 goals against average.
