Box Score The American University lacrosse team will host Bucknell Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the team's annual Lax Blowout event.
The Eagles (4-4, 1-1) lost at Colgate on Saturday 15-12 after fighting back from a 8-2 deficit in the first 12 minutes. Kimberly Collins, Lauren Schoenberger and Chiara Speziale each scored twice in the game, with Collins also adding three assists. On the defensive end, Laura Dawson, Brit Ferguson, Emma Larkin and Samantha Marshall each picked up two groundballs. Kaska Komosinski recorded five saves in the match. The defeat snapped a three-game winning streak for the Eagles.
Speziale leads the team with 16 goals this year after her two-goal performance on Saturday, while Emily Stankiewicz has recorded 19 ground balls for the Eagles' defense. Komosinski owns a 10.91 goals against average, with a 4-4 record in goal.
The Bison will carry a 2-8 overall record and 0-2 mark in the Patriot League into Saturday's contest. Bucknell is led by Ali Carey and Katelyn Miller, who have each totaled 21 points this season. Carey has scored a team-best 18 goals with three assists while Miller has notched 16 scores and five helpers. Miller also leads the Bison on the defensive end, collecting 24 groundballs and causing 13 turnovers. Alyssa DeLorenz is 2-8 in goal with a 14.68 goals against average.
All American University students in attendance will recieve free Domino's Pizza, Coca-Cola products and Robeks Smoothies. Additionally, students who download the new AUeagles Mobile App and send in a photo from the Lax Blowout will be entered to win free Chipotle for a year.
At halftime, American will welcome back lacrosse alumni in a special ceremony and honor the wrestling team for its fifth-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Championships.
