Box Score The American University women's lacrosse team will look to remain at the top of the Patriot League standings as they take on Colgate this Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y.
The Eagles (4-3, 1-0) defeated Holy Cross 7-5 and have won three-straight games heading into Saturday. Samantha Marshall and Lauren Schoenberger each scored twice to propel the team past the Crusaders for their first conference win. Goalkeeper Kaska Komosinski made five saves, as Laura Dawson, Marshall and Emily Stankiewicz each had three ground balls to anchor the American defense.
Marshall and Chiara Speziale lead the team with 14 goals each this year. Stankiewicz has led the Eagles defensively with 18 ground balls collected, 12 caused turnovers and 14 draw controls. She has also recorded nine goals this season. Komosinski owns a 4-3 record in goal with a 10.31 goals against average.
Colgate enters the match with a 3-4 record and a 1-0 mark in the Patriot League. They are led by Colleen Bubnack, who has scored 28 goals with 10 assists this season. Christina Roa is 7-7 in goal with a 16.12 goals against average. She also leads the Raiders defensively with 13 ground balls collected.
American is 4-8 all-time against the Raiders. Colgate won last season's contest 11-9 at Jacobs Field. Paige Lin, Lisa Schaaf and Schoenberger each recorded two goals for the Eagles.
