The Eagles are coming off an 18-7 victory over Virginia Tech and have won two straight to improve to 3-3 on the year. Chiara Speziale tallied a career-high four goals in the win over the Hookies and also collected one ground ball and one draw control. Emily Burton and Samantha Marshall also recorded hat tricks for American while seven Eagles finished the day with at least two points. American's defense was equally as impressive on Wednesday, allowing Virginia Tech to take just 10 shots on goal.
Speziale and Bernadette Maher lead the team with 13 goals on the year while Marshall has notched 12 goals and three assists for a team-leading 15 points. Emily Stankiewicz has paced the Eagles on the defensive end, recording 15 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and 14 draw controls to go with her nine goals. Kaska Komosinski owns a 3-3 record in goal with an 11.22 goals against average.
Holy Cross will enter play Saturday with a 1-5 record, having dropped three straight. The Crusaders are led by Kat Sutton and Taylor Zebrowski who have scored 11 goals and 10 goals, respectively, while Annie Boylan leads the team with 15 grounds balls and 11 draw controls. Amy Martin in 1-5 in goal for Holy Cross with a 10.34 goals against average.
