The Eagles (0-1) opened their season on Sunday with a 16-4 loss against Ohio State. Bernadette Maher notched two goals while Lauren Schoenberger and Chiara Speziale scored one apiece in the defeat. American held a 16-13 advantage in groundballs collected and committed 21 turnovers to the Buckeyes' 20.
George Washington is 1-1 on the year after falling to Drexel 14-9 over the weekend. Junior Megan Seidman leads he team with seven goals while three other Colonials have four tallies or more. Liz Hoffman has a 10.67 goals against average in her two starts at goalie this season.
American is 1-1 against George Washington over the last two seasons. The Eagles fell in overtime last year by a score of 12-11 but got the best of the Colonials in 2009 with a 12-6 victory.
