Box Score

Lisa Strack matched her career-high with 24 points and added seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the American University women's basketball team's 77-62 triumph over Mount St. Mary's Friday evening in Bender Arena.

Strack's output came on a productive 6-of-12 from the floor, including a career-best four made three-pointers on only six attempts from deep. The reigning Patriot League Player of the Week was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Her impressive production came while only committing one turnover.

Ti'Asia McGeorge and Tori Halvorsen also recorded career-bests in scoring with 15 and 11 points, respectively. McGeorge was 5-of-7 from beyond-the-arc while Halvorsen's total came on four-of-seven from the floor.

American (2-2) got going early on the hot hand of Strack, who knocked down a pair of threes and a two-point bucket in a span of 31 seconds to give the Eagles an 11-5 lead four minutes into the game. AU's advantage remained between four and six for the better part of the half before Mount St. Mary's (1-2) tied the contest at 19 with 4:36 to play in the period. But the Eagles regained control with a 15-2 run to close the half, capped off by a Strack three as the half ended to push AU's lead to 34-21 at intermission.

The Mountainers, however, hung around in the early stages of the second half, eventually putting together a 12-2 spurt to cut their deficit to three, 45-42, with 13:42 to go. Halvorsen responded with a bucket for AU, although The Mount would get within five on two different occasions later in the half. But American fired back with threes both times -- one by McGeorge and the other by Alexis Dobbs -- on each of its next trips down the floor to extend the lead.

AU put the game away with eight unanswered points over a 1:41 stretch to open up a 66-53 advantage with 6:13 to play. The Eagles' lead remained in double digits for the remainder as they picked up their first home win of the season.

For the game, AU shot 11-22 from three-point range as the Eagles were carried by McGeorge and Strack's combined 9-for-13 from deep. AU's 11 made threes are tied for the third-most in a single-game in program history, which occurred on two occasions last season including in its win against Mount St. Mary's.

The Eagles will hit the road for its next three contests, beginning with a contest at Youngstown State this Monday, November 21 at 7 p.m. AU will then head to California for the Cal Poly Thanksgiving Classic next weekend.
