WASHINGTON - The American University wrestling team (0-5) dropped its first home dual meet of the year Sunday afternoon, 27-15, to Lehigh (4-5).

The meet began at 184 lbs. where No. 14 David Craig defeated Andy Semple by tech-fall, 15-0, to put the Mountain Hawks on top. Lehigh extended its team lead with an Alex Iococca major decision over Brooks Keefer, 11-3, and a forfeit by AU at heavyweight.

Jasen Borshoff put American on the board at 125 lbs. with an 12-6 win over Mitch Berger. Borshoff accumulated well over two minutes of riding time and attempted to score bonus points but was unsuccessful in his final takedown attempt.

Matt Mariacher followed Borshoff with a 9-2 decision over Kevin Vinh at 133 lbs. Mariacher found himself trailing 2-0 as the third period began but quickly scored a reversal from his down starting position and a nearfall to move ahead, 5-2. With 3:33 of riding time Mariacher earned a bonus point and the 9-2 victory.

Kyle Borshoff made it three in a row for the Eagles with a pin of Jeff Santo in the third period. On top 7-4, K. Borshoff used Santo's own aggressive move against him and worked his way into a controlling position before rolling Santo to his back for the fall.

Trevor Chinn ended American's winning streak with a 16-5 major decision over Chris Clarke at 149 lbs. and Dave Nakasone followed suit with an 8-5 decision over Christopher Stout.

No. 11 Mike Cannon put life back into AU with a 7-2 decision over Mike Galante at 165 lbs. Cannon began the second period with a 3-2 lead and scored an escape from his down starting position. With a takedown in the third period and over three minutes of riding time, Cannon won the decision comfortably, 7-2.

Alex Caruso defeated Jonathon Powell by tech-fall, 24-9, in the evening's final match at 174 lbs.

American will be in action again this Friday, Dec. 7, against both George Mason and Drexel in Fairfax, Va., beginning at 4 p.m.
