WASHINGTON - For a second week in a row, the Eagle of the Week award for AU Athletics goes to a student-athlete with a late, game-winning goal. Sophomore Jill DuVarney scored with 34 seconds remaining to lift American University field hockey to a 1-0 win at Bucknell in the Eagles' first Patriot League contest of 2026.

From way outside the 25 yard line, Sophie Willemse sent a drag pass into the circle. Bucknell's Sarah Althouse tried to save it, but the ball got past her and DuVarney was there to snag the bounce and make sure it counted for AU. It was DuVarney's second goal of the season and of her career, and her first game-winner.

2026-27 Eagle of the Week
