WASHINGTON  –– Five different goal scorers tallied six goals for American University field hockey on Sunday afternoon as the Eagles sailed past Lock Haven, 6-0, on the road for a winning weekend and their fifth win on the bounce.

• American's five goal scorers were Kaleigh Missimer, Alyssa Freeman, Sam Kockx, Emilia Winkler, and Jordan Reicher. Kockx, the freshman striker, was the Eagle that scored a brace, notching goals in both the second and third period.
• The Eagles outmatched the Bald Eagles 11-1 in penalty corner attempts and 15-1 in shots on goal–23-2 overall in shots.

How It Happened
In the seventh minute a goal from Missimer started off the scoring. Reicher sent the ball across the goal line, and with a swipe, Missimer saw her first attempt blocked but was able to corral the rebound and send it back in for a goal.
 
Freeman's goal came in the second period goal from a corner to double the lead, 2-0, in the 25th minute. Missimer inserted the corner and Sophie Willemse had a powerful, sweeping shot that Freeman got a stick on to sneak into the cage behind the Haven keeper Van Luijk.
 
With time winding down, Kockx stole the ball in the American half and carried it all the way down the field, taking on three defenders, and knocking the ball past the van Luijk to put the Eagles up 3-0 with three seconds remaining in the opening half.
 
The first goal of three from the second half–all scored in the third period–was credited to Winkler who finished off an attempt from a Kockx that was losing steam as it headed toward the goal to ensure that it counted.
 
The fifth goal of the day again belonged to Kockx, who, similar to the effort from Winkler, finished off a rebounded shot from classmate Nora Tromble after it hit the post, putting American up, 5-0, in the 41st minute.
 
The final goal of six for American was Reicher's, assisted by Maura Read. Read sent a ball into the circle, across the goal line from the right wing, that was corralled by a poised to strike Reicher to cap off the goals and see American winning, 6-0, on the afternoon.

The Eagles are back at Jacobs next weekend, taking on Maine on Friday, Sept. 25. They'll also square off with Providence at home on Sunday, Sept. 27.
