BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Chris Sullivan of the American University men's soccer team has been named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week, following his game-winning goal against Colgate on Saturday night. The junior captain scored in the 87th minute to give American a 1-0 lead and the win on the road.
Sullivan has been American's most active attacking player so far this season, getting loose for a team-leading 10 shots and putting seven on goal. He needed just one shot on Saturday to help bring the Eagles their first win of the season, playing a deflection in the box off a volley and slotting his shot to the bottom right corner of the net.
The Eagles are now 1-0 in Patriot League play, and they'll travel to North Carolina for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. They're back in conference action at home on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. against Loyola Maryland.
