LOS ANGELES - Former American University men's soccer midfielder
Troy Elgersma has signed a short-term agreement with the LA Galaxy, moving him from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Ventura County FC to the MLS side ahead of the Galaxy's 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinal first leg match against Deportivo Toluca FC on Wednesday, April 8 at 8 p.m. CT/10 p.m. ET. The call-up is Elgersma's first, making him the 15th player in program history to sign with an MLS club.
Elgersma signed with Ventura County FC in February 2026, and has since recorded a goal and an assist across five appearances for the MLS Next Pro side.
The former Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year put together one of the best careers in AU's program history. He scored 15 goals and dished out 14 assists across 55 starts and 4,805 minutes. A masterful distributor from the midfield, his 14 assists are 11th all-time at American.
Wednesday's Concacaf match will be broadcasted on FS1 and TUDN.
