CLARION, Pa. - The 2025-26 dual season ended with a win for the American University wrestling team, as the Eagles defeated Clarion 26-10 on Sunday afternoon.
Raymond Lopez and
Caleb Campos both earned major decisions, while
Leo Maestas,
Hunter Hohman, and
Caleb Close all won their matches in the team's final competition before the EIWA Championships.
Notable
- Raymond Lopez got AU on the board, wrestling up from his usual 133 to 141. He controlled the bout, nearing a technical fall with a 17-5 win over Scott Johnson. Lopez now has 20 wins on the season and just four losses, along with 44 dual points.
- Leo Maestas came out on top of a thrilling scramble to earn the bout-winning takedown in the third period against Oliver Fairchild. With the 7-3 victory, the freshman has put together a strong season with 13 wins.
- Kaden Milheim completed the shutout victory over Wesley Barnes, 5-0, while Hunter Hohman racked up 11 points against Gabe Lilly for an 11-5 decision.
- #28 Caleb Campos recorded his 21st win and fifth major decision of the season at 184, allowing just a point against Adrian Gacek for the 10-1 result. The junior has won three matches in a row heading into the EIWA Championships.
- Freshman Caleb Close picked up his second dual win, nearly finding a major decision with a 7-0 defeat of Ethan Wiant.
- The 285-pound bout was forfeited by Clarion, giving Emmanuel Ulrich his 18th win of the season.
- The Eagles end the dual season with an 8-9 record, the fourth straight season with eight or more wins under head coach Jason Borrelli.
