Piper Crosby Wins a Silver Medal for Swim & Dive on Day Three of the Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Sophomore Piper Crosby won a silver medal for American University men's and women's swimming & diving on day three of the 2026 Patriot League Championships, becoming the first AU medalist other than standout Mimi Watts since 2013.

Women's Notable Results
  • Crosby earned her first-ever Patriot League Championships medal by taking second in the 100 backstroke in 53.20, breaking her own school record of 53.50 from November. 
  • The time for Crosby was faster than her prelims swim of 53.59 that had her in the top spot heading into the championship final, but Army's Angie McKane dropped nearly a second off her prelims time to win the gold in 52.83.
  • Sophomore Marin Priddy earned the Eagles' other top eight finish on day three, taking fifth place in the 100 breaststroke in a PR of 1:02.45 that improves on her own third-place time at American.
  • Both Crosby and Priddy have now advanced to two championship finals each in two days of individual competition at the PL Championships.
  • Sophomore Claire Mosher earned a spot in the B Final in the women's 400 IM, and placed 15th overall in the finals with a PR of 4:31.60 that improves upon her own 14th-place standing all-time.
  • Senior Isabel McGovern was a B finalist on day three as well, going 54.85 in the prelims of the women's 100 butterfly which was a PR that improves on her own second-place time at American. McGovern went 55.09 in the final to place 13th overall.
  • Senior Grace Netz went 1:05.39 in the women's 100 breaststroke prelims to advance to the C final, and placed 24th overall.
  • The women's 200 free relay team of Crosby, Priddy, freshman Lucy Penna, and sophomore Grace Gilbert went 1:33.19 for seventh in that event and third all-time at American.
  • Crosby's leadoff leg of 23.09 for the 50 free is a new PR for her than improves upon her second-place standing all-time.
Men's Notable Results
  • The Eagles had six men advance to C finals on day three, including freshman Alex Way and sophomore Sean Memon on the men's 3-meter diving board.
  • Sophomore Luke Martens broke four minutes in the C final of the men's 400 IM with a PR of 3:59.25 that moves him up to eighth all-time at AU and earned him 20th in that event.
  • Freshman Van Paul made it to the C final in the men's 100 breaststroke and improved his time to from 56.67 in the prelims to 56.45 in the final, taking 23rd in the event and taking the ninth spot all-time for PRs at American.
  • Junior Connor Florence won a three-man heat of Eagles in the men's 100 backstroke with a time of 50.45 to place 21st overall in the prelims and advance to the C final, a new PR that moves him up to a tie for eighth all-time. Florence later placed 24th overall in 51.07.
  • Junior Ryan Tiffany posted a PR of 50.01 to earn a spot in the C final of the men's 100 fly 50.01, moving him up to 13th all-time at AU, and later placed 24th overall after his finals swim.
  • Freshman Matthew Pistorino posted a PR of 1:40.96 in the men's 200 freestyle to rank 14th all-time at America, but just missed making the C final in that event.
  • Junior Kyler Alcebar also just missed a C final with a PR of 56.93 in the men's 100 breaststroke that improves upon his own 14th-place standing at AU.
  • The men's 200 free relay team of Florence, sophomore Charlie St. Louis, freshman Gavin Shifflett, and Pistorino went 1:23.52 to tie for 11th all-time at American.
Team Scoring
  • After the third day of the championships, the women are in eighth place while the men are in 10th.

  • Competition concludes on Saturday with contested events to include women's 3-meter diving, the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and the 400 free relay. Prelims start at 10 a.m. with diving prelims at 1 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
