Third School Record and Two Championship Finalists Highlight Day Two of PL Championships for Swim & Dive

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - It was another strong showing for American University men's and women's swimming and diving on day two of the 2026 Patriot League Championships, as the women's 400 medley relay set a school record and the Eagles put two swimmers into the championship final of the women's 50 freestyle.

Notable
  • Sophomores Piper Crosby and Marin Priddy became the first pair in decades to advance to a championship final in the same event for American, the women's 50 freestyle.
  • Crosby finished just off the podium, going 23.00 for fourth place and improving on her own second-place PR at AU.
  • Priddy also improved from the prelims, going 23.29 for sixth place overall which is a PR that improves on her own fourth-place standing in program history.
  • Crosby and Priddy teamed up with senior Isabel McGovern and sophomore Grace Gilbert for a school-record finish in the women's 400 medley relay, as the foursome turned in fifth-place time of 3:42.02 that is almost two seconds faster than the previous record set in November of 2024.
  • The Eagles got an exciting finish from junior Kate Williams in the B final of the women's 500 freestyle. Williams won the consolation event in a PR of 4:54.57 that moves her up to second all-time at AU. She improved by three spots in the night swim from the prelims, and her finals time was the fifth-best overall in the event.
  • McGovern advanced to a B final in the women's 200 IM with a PR of 2:04.74 that improved on her own fourth-place time at American. Later in the day she placed 15th overall in 2:05.05.
  • Senior Peyton Thurman advanced to the consolation final on the women's 1-meter where she posted a score of 226.95 that placed her 14th overall.
  • For the men's team, sophomore Luke Martens earned a spot in the C final of the 500 free with a PR of 4:32.75 that moves him up to 12th all-time in that event. He went 4:33.99 at night to take 23rd overall.
  • The final event of the day saw the foursome of sophomore Ryan Pursley, freshman Van Paul, junior Ryan Tiffany, and sophomore Charlie St. Louis post a time of 3:22.19 in the men's 400 medley relay, ranking seventh all-time at AU.
