Swim Programs Compete in Final Dual Meet at Old Dominion; Earn Six Wins

NORFOLK, Va. - Six wins on the women's side and four new top-16 personal bests in program history were the highlight for American University swimming and diving in the Eagles' final dual meet of the season at Old Dominion. Senior Isabel McGovern and junior Kate Williams each posted two individual victories for American.

Notable Results
  • Williams and freshman Abby Rothrock took first and second, respectively, in the women's 1000 freestyle. Williams' winning time of 10:13.28 bested the field by just over 10 seconds, and is a personal best that moves her into second place all-time at American.
  • Rothrock's time of 10:23.62 is also a new best, and puts her in sixth place all-time at AU.
  • Williams earned her second win of the day in the 500 freestyle, going 5:05.00.
  • The Eagles got a win from sophomore Marin Priddy in the 100 breaststroke as she finished in 1:04.01.
  • McGovern won the 200 fly in 2:04.79, beating second place by nearly four seconds, and she earned her second victory in the 100 fly in 56.39.
  • McGovern and Priddy teamed up with sophomores Piper Crosby and Grace Gilbert for a win and an ODU pool record in the women's 200 free relay with a time of 1:35.26.
  • Crosby earned a pair of second-place finishes individually in the 50 free and 100 back, and Gilbert was second in the 100 free.
  • Priddy posted a personal best in taking second in the women's 200 IM, with her time of 2:07.26 ranking 11th all-time at AU.
  • Sophomore Luke Martens took second place in the men's 1000 free with a personal-best time of 9:38.16 which moves him into 11th place all-time on AU's top 16 list.
  • In the men's 200 fly, the Eagles took second, third, and fourth place with the trio of junior Ryan Tiffany (1:55.16), senior Madan Morris (1:55.35) and sophomore Cole Coffman (1:56.15).
  • ODU came out on top for both the men's and women's sides in the team scoring. There was no diving at the meet, as ODU does not sponsor diving teams.

  • The Eagles' final test before the Patriot League Championships will be at the same site as that meet, as they head to the Navy Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31.
