Series History
  • This will be the 109th meeting between American and Navy, with Navy leading 55-53.
  • The series was recently tied at 52-52 before the Mids won three in a row, but the Eagles came out on top most recently in the 2024-25 PL Championship.
  • After falling 81-58 on the road and 68-60 at home in the regular season last year, AU turned the tables for a 74-52 win at home in the championship behind 25 points from Matt Rogers.
  • AU is 25-18 in home games against Navy, but had dropped six straight to the Mids in Bender prior to last year's PL championship.
What to Know About American
  • The Eagles won their first two PL games but have since suffered back-to-back setbacks. They let an 11-point lead slip away in a two-point loss at Colgate, and struggled from long range in a home loss to Holy Cross.
  • At home in Bender Arena, the Eagles are 8-2 so far this season.
  • Seven players—Wyatt Nausadis, Madden Collins, Kade Sebastian, Greg Jones, Julen IturbeGeoff Sprouse, and Dean Hogans—have been leading scorers for AU so far this season.
  • AU currently has six players averaging 8.5 ppg or more, which no other AU team in the past 25 years can boast. Collins, a freshman, comes off the bench for a team-high 13.2 points per game.
  • Despite a career-high 26 points for Collins and an enthusiastic crowd of 2,146, AU lost at home for just the second time this season in an 84-73 decision against visiting Holy Cross.
  • An off night from long range and a turnover-prone second half for the Eagles allowed Holy Cross to pull away and hold off a late charge by AU.
  • As a team, AU leads the Patriot League in scoring offense (77.4 ppg),  turnover margin (2.59), and steals (8.47 pg). The Eagles rank second in scoring margin (3.6 ppg).
  • Sophomore Wyatt Nausadis ranks fifth in 3-point FG percentage at .421, and freshman Madden Collins is fifth with 1.6 steals per game.
What to Know About Navy
  • Leading the Patriot League so far this season, Navy is 4-0 with a 12-5 overall record and eight straight wins.
  • The Mids have allowed just 60 points per game in PL games to lead the league, and have a scoring margin of 14.8 points in conference games, with second-place BU at a 4.5 ppg scoring margin.
  • Three Navy players—Aidan Kehoe, Austin Benigni, and Jordan Pennick—scored 20 or more points in the Mids' 76-55 defeat of Bucknell on Jan. 7, achieving that for the first time in nine seasons.
  • Benigni leads Navy with 17.8 points per game (second in the PL), with Kehoe ranking second at 14.3 points per game while also leading the Mids with 9.9 rebounds per game (first in the PL).
  • Navy jumped out to a 20-2 lead against Lafayette on Jan. 10 in a 76-50 victory, led by a combined 43 points from Kehoe (23) and Pennick (20) as well as 17 from Benigni.
