WASHINGTON – The American University men's basketball team released its 2026-27 Patriot League schedule on Wednesday, completing the Eagles' 32-game regular-season slate. American will host 15 games at Bender Arena this season, including nine Patriot League contests.
Head coach
Duane Simpkins returns for his fourth season with a lot of talent on the roster, including players set to return after sitting out last season due to injury. Simpkins has loved the support the Eagles get in Bender Arena, and hopes the fans are ready for a lot of excitement this year.
"Conference play is what you work for all year," said Simpkins. "Every contest presents a different challenge, and there are no easy games in the Patriot League. We're excited about this group, we've had a really productive offseason, and we can't wait to get back in front of our fans in Bender Arena."
American announced its 2026-27 non-conference schedule earlier this month, featuring six home games including the four-team Capital Thanksgiving Classic.
Patriot League Slate
- American will once again play an 18-game Patriot League slate, facing each of the league's other nine teams twice.
- The Eagles open Patriot League play on the road at defending champion Lehigh on Dec. 30. The Mountain Hawks captured the 2026 Patriot League title after finishing second in the regular-season standings.
- AU returns to Bender Arena for its first conference home game against Holy Cross on Jan. 2 before heading back on the road for games at Colgate (Jan. 6) and Loyola Maryland (Jan. 11).
- The Eagles will make both of their longest Patriot League road trips in the first three weeks of conference play, traveling to Colgate on Jan. 6 and Boston University on Jan. 16.
- American hosts Navy on Jan. 20. The Midshipmen finished atop the 2025-26 regular-season standings before falling to Boston University in the Patriot League semifinals.
- The first half of league play concludes with back-to-back home games against Bucknell (Jan. 27) and Boston University (Jan. 30). The Terriers ended American's 2025-26 season in the Patriot League quarterfinals before advancing to the championship game.
- Bender Arena will host a men's and women's doubleheader against Lehigh on Monday, Feb. 8.
- The Eagles close the regular season with back-to-back road games, traveling to Bucknell on Feb. 24 and Holy Cross on Feb. 27.
