BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Capping off a 3-0 weekend for American University volleyball, sophomores
Salme Adeele Hollas and
Bella Marrero have received conference recognition as the Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week.
Hollas had a stellar opening weekend, totaling 52 kills and 22 digs to earn Patriot League Player of the Week honors. She had a double-double against George Mason (13 kills, 12 digs), and headlined AU's win over GW with a 22-kill performance. In AU's sweep of Georgetown on Saturday, the sophomore hit .417 with 17 kills. Overall on the weekend, Hollas posted a .323 percentage.
The Preseason Patriot League Libero of the Year picked up right where she left off to start the 2025 season, totaling 61 digs and 11 assists over the three-game stretch. She took on a career-high 29 digs in the win over GW, adding five assists and a service ace.
