WASHINGTON - Deniz Dakak adds an AVCA East Coast All-Region selection to her remarkable season of achievements, as the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the all-region honors on Tuesday morning. The sophomore setter is the ninth player in program history to receive an All-Region honor, and it's the first of her career.
The Istanbul, Turkey native was outstanding in her second collegiate season, earning Patriot league Player and Setter of the Year in 2025. She drove American's offense to a .294 hitting percentage that ranked 12th in the country at the end of the regular season, dishing out 947 assists, and averaging 10.53 per set. She led AU to a record-setting .500 hitting percentage in the PL championship game and was named Tournament MVP after the Eagles captured their first conference title in six years. Dakak was a versatile contributor as well, logging seven double-doubles through assists and digs, 56 blocks, and she put additional points on the board with 32 aces.
