SCOUTING AMERICAN
- AU is coming off an 11-9 loss to Bucknell last Friday. The Eagles cut what was a five-goal deficit down to two in the fourth quarter, but couldn't complete the comeback.
- Alyssa Apuzzo had an excellent day distributing the ball against the Bison, dishing out four assists and picking up her 100th career point in the process. Three of her helpers came to Reagan Murdoch, supporting a four-goal day for the junior midfielder.
- Kristen Hegarty has come up with two goals in each of the last two games, three of which have come via free position. The junior has been more involved in AU's attack off the bench as of late, having appeared in just seven of the 12 games before April 5. She's got four assists and career-high nine points so far this season.
- Murdoch continues to lead the team with 35 goals, which ranks seventh in the Patriot League. She is knotted up in points with Maddy Spratt at 42 apiece, as the senior attacker has 25 goals and 17 assists on the season. Coming into Saturday, she is just two goals away from 100 in her career.
- Last time out at Jacobs, AU battled with #25 Army in a 16-13 loss. The Eagles led going into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 5-1 in the final frame. Caleigh Forti made a season-high 17 saves on the day to help keep her team in it, and seven different players scored for American.
- Forti leads the Patriot League in saves with 144, averaging just over 10 per game. The defense in front of her has been disruptive to opposing attacking units as of late, causing 27 turnovers across the last three games.
- Saturday is Senior Day for the Eagles, celebrating AU's 12 seniors and Coach Teeters' largest graduating class. The group has scored a collective 258 goals and tallied 159 assists for 417 total points.
- Head Coach Lindsay Teeters will be coaching against her Alma mater this weekend, having played for BU from 2003 to 2006 and putting together a stellar career. She was a two-time All-American, and ranks fourth on their all-time goals list.
SCOUTING BU
- BU comes into Saturday's game on a four-game losing streak, most recently falling to Colgate 14-10 on the road.
- Much like AU's game against Bucknell, the Terriers came up short after cutting a five-goal deficit down to one in the fourth quarter. but the comeback fell short. Junior midfielder Jayne Feeney led the way with a hat trick, but BU was held scoreless in the final 9:23 of the game.
- Sophomore attacker Izabella Amonte leads BU with 32 goals and 37 points in total, followed by Elle Stevenson with 33 points.
- Saturday's game brings a quality goalie matchup, as Natalie Aiosa sits behind Forti in the Patriot League in total saves with 136. The sophomore has started every game for the Terriers this season, and averages just under 10 saves per contest.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Barton has been BU's best in the draw control circle, leading the team with 56 draw controls and averaging 4.15 per game.
- Turnovers have been a problem for the Terriers, as they lose the ball over 16 times per game and average the least amount of caused turnovers in the Patriot League on the other end (6.29).
