What to Know About American
  • American is playing its second of two non-Division I opponents after taking down Central Penn 115-50 on Nov. 15. That was the largest margin of victory in program history, and a program-record seven Eagles reached double figures in scoring.
  • AU is 2-0 so far at home, and Monday night's contest is the first of six straight games in Bender Arena for the Eagles.
  • Three different players—Wyatt Nausadis, Madden Collins, and Greg Jones—have been leading scorers so far for American.
  • Despite a strong shooting night that included 12 three-pointers and a halftime tie, AU came up short in its most recent game, an 80–71 loss at Rutgers. Freshman Madden Collins led AU with 16 points as the Eagles stayed within striking distance late before the Scarlet Knights sealed the game at the free-throw line.
  • Collins wowed the Bender Arena crowd at his home debut vs. Penn, scoring 25 points including 17 in the second half to lead the Eagles.
  • American is coming off a 22-13 season and the fourth Patriot League Championship in program history.
  • On this year's roster of 19, nine are true freshmen including six scholarship players. Collins is averaging a team-best 13.4 ppg, while Carson McDonald had a team-best 5.0 rebounds per game but is now sidelined for the season with a knee injury. Kade Sebastian is averaging nine points over the last two contests after posting 10 vs. Central Penn and eight at Rutgers.
What to Know About Marywood
  • The Pacers are 4-1 against Division II competition to start the season, and their game at AU will be an exhibition for them.
  • Marywood was picked to finish fourth of eight teams in the preseason Atlantic East poll.
  • The Pacers returned two starters from a 2024-25 team that bowed out to eventual champions, Neumann, in the semifinals of the Atlantic East tournament.
  • One of those returners is junior guard Michel Loftin, currently averaging 21.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game to lead Marywood. Loftin has scored more than 20 points in four of five games so far, with a double-double in a win against Keystone.
  • Head coach Jon Showers is in his fourth season at the helm, and in the 2023-24 season he guided Marywood to its first conference playoff victory in the program's 30-year history.
