Swim & Dive Posts Three Top-Five Finishes on Day Two of the Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, Va. - Piper Crosby, Marin Priddy, and the relay team they were both part of all earned top-five finishes for American University swimming and diving on the first full day of the George Mason Patriot Invitational. Overall, seven new top-16 times were achieved by the Eagles.

Notable Results
  • Crosby posted the Eagles' best individual finish of the day, taking third place in the women's 50 free. The sophomore's time was a PR of 23.21 that ranks second all-time at American, behind only three-time Patriot League champion Mimi Watts.
  • Priddy, also a sophomore, placed fifth in the 50 free behind Crosby, finishing in a PR of 23.40 that moves her up to fourth all-time at AU.
  • Both Crosby and Priddy posted personal records in the prelims, and both improved in the final. Also moving up on the Top 16 list in the 50 free was sophomore Grace Gilbert, whose prelims time of 23.90 puts her in 11th place all-time at AU.
  • Sophomore Charlie St. Louis was the top finisher for the men in the 50 free, moving up to 11th all-time at AU with his 17th-place prelims time of 20.87.
  • Junior Kate Williams placed eighth overall in the 500 free. Junior Ella Shifflett dropped over two and a half seconds from her prelims time in the 500 free, going 5:03.43 to move into 12th all-time at AU and place 19th in the meet.
  • On the men's side, sophomore Luke Martens placed 16th overall in the 500 free with a time of 4:38.27.
  • Freshman Abby Rothrock narrowly lost out in a 500 free swim-off, but improved her PR by nearly three seconds from the prelim, going 5:04.35 which is 15th all-time at AU.
  • Senior Isabel McGovern finished 10th for the Eagles in the 200 IM, posting a PR by a hundredth of a second. Her time of 2:05.40 remains fourth all-time at American.
  • The women's 200 free relay team of Crosby, Priddy, McGovern, and Gilbert ended the night with a fourth-place finish in 1:34.38, tying for fourth all-time in program history.
  • For diving, senior Peyton Thurman placed ninth on the women's 3-meter, and freshman Alex Way was 14th on the men's 1-meter.
