FAIRFAX, Va. - Two school records fell on day one of the George Mason Patriot Invitational for American University swimming and diving. Senior Isabel McGovern was involved in both, which occurred in the same race for the Eagles. Three full days of the Patriot Invite are still on deck for AU.

Notable Results

• The women's 800 freestyle relay team broke a record from February, coming in with a time of 7:33.45 to place seventh in a strong field that included Towson, Florida Atlantic, and Richmond. McGovern was joined in the relay by freshman Lucy Penna, junior Fiona McMahon, and junior Kate Williams.
• Leading off the relay was McGovern, whose 200 free time of 1:50.61 broke an 18-year old record of 1:50.81 set by Cassell Hall of Famer Meghan Thiel in 2007.
• McGovern was already a part of three school relay records including the 800 free relay, but the 200 free record is her first individual honor at American.
• The foursome of sophomore Piper Crosby, sophomore Marin Priddy, McGovern, and sophomore Grace Gilbert, took third place in the women's 200 medley relay in a time of 1:42.24 which ranks fourth all-time in program history.
• The men's 200 medley relay team of sophomore Ryan Pursley, freshman Van Paul, junior Sam Kohm, and freshman Gavin Shifflett posted the 13th-best time in program history of 1:32.92. The men's 800 free relay team of sophomore Luke Martens, freshman Matias Garcia, freshman Matthew Pistorino, and junior Lucas Standridge posted the 16th-best time of 6:52.84.
