WASHINGTON - American University Athletics is excited to host another great event to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), with this year's free post-game clinic set for Saturday, February 8 following a 2 p.m. women's basketball game against Lehigh.

Many of American's varsity teams -- typically including basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball -- along with the cheer and dance squads, will lead skills clinics and sign autographs for kids of all ages in attendance on the gym floor. There will be fun prizes and learning opportunities for youth of all ages. The clinic is free for all with a game ticket, and children are asked to wear athletic shoes.

"We are thrilled to be able to once again host a clinic in support of National Girls and Women in Sports Day," said Deputy Athletics Director Katie Benoit. "Sport can play a critical role in developing skills such as teamwork, resilience, goal-setting, and the pursuit of excellence. It's so valuable for young girls and women to have these opportunities, and it's a wonderful chance for our current student-athletes to share their skills and give back to the community."
