WASHINGTON - For the third time in her first season at American University, freshman
Lorelei Bangit of women's track has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week. Bangit is coming off an impressive showing at the Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships where she earned a silver medal in the women's 400 meter run.
Bangit was the first Eagle to score points for American on the second day of the meet. After breaking her own school record in the prelims of the 400m with a time of 55.44, she broke it yet again with a 55.18 in the finals to clinch a second-place finish in the event. Along with her silver medal, the freshman earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team.
To close out the weekend, Bangit teamed up with fellow freshmenÂ

Hannah Puckett, along with juniorÂ
Lucia Ianello, to break a 20-year school record with their finish of 4:03.83 in the women's 4x400 meter relay.
The Eagles will send a number of competitors to the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Fairfax, Va. from May 10-12.
