FAIRFAX, Va. – Two personal bests and an event win from sophomore
Cooper Michaud capped off a successful track season for the Eagles. The American University track team had a select squad of six competing at the IC4A Outdoor Championships on Saturday for the last event of the season.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH SEAN GRAHAM
"The team wrapped up the season today in nice fashion at the IC4A Championships. Of highlight were
Mathias Deldicque with a big PR and a runaway heat win in the 800m followed immediately by
Cooper Michaud with a six second PR and IC4A Champion performance in the men's 3000m.
"It was a solid way to end the season for the Eagles. We'll now take a little break before we begin preparing for cross country season in the fall."
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sprinters Fernando Ibarra and Jason Omari-Anim hit the track in the 100m dash to kick off the day's performances. Both Ibarra and Omari-Anim hit paces that were on pace with top-10 record book performances. Omari-Anim set the record in the event just one week prior at the Patriot League Championships.
- First-year Mathias Deldicque shined in his final race of the season, hitting a personal best in the event while winning the heat also earning a spot in the record books, now sitting in seventh place. Teammate Carver Morgan was less than a second behind, finishing 12th.
- Closing out the evening of racing, it was Row Sullivan and Cooper Michaud in the 3000m race. Sullivan finished fourth in the final event of their collegiate career, but Michaud tapped out his sophomore season with a six-second personal best on his way to winning the event. The champion now holds the seventh fastest time in program history in the distance.
