WASHINGTON - Six members of the American University swimming & diving teams have earned Academic All-District recognition from the College Sports Communicators (CSC). The 2023-24 Academic All-District Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.
The honorees from American on the men's side are seniors
Nick Buckley and
Caleb Farris, while the women's team has four honorees in
Dylan Moulton,
Peyton Thurman,
Amaya Tomma, and
Mimi Watts. To earn recognition, athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average along with being a significant contributor to the program.
Buckley leads the way with a 3.99 GPA as a law and politics major, and was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in each of the past three seasons. Farris has a 3.83 GPA as a computer science major, and is a past recipient of PL Academic All-League honors.
Watts is a mathematics and economics major with a 3.86 GPA and was the Patriot League Women's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year for a second year in a row as well as earning Academic All-League honors for a a third straight year. Moulton has a 3.91 GPA as a neuroscience major, Thurman has a 3.89 GPA as a public relations and strategic communication major, and Tomma has a 3.67 GPA as an international relations and criminal justice double major.
