WASHINGTON – After defeating the Boston University Terriers, 1-0, in their semifinal match on Thursday, top-seeded American University field hockey team will take on No. 2 Lafayette in the 2024 Patriot League Field Hockey Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at home at Jacobs Complex.
This will be American's 17th appearance in the Championship game, having won 13 times in 23 seasons since joining the league. The Eagles and Leopards will meet for the League title for the eighth time, including the fourth time in the last six seasons. American has won six of the seven former title matchups, including last season in 2023, with the only loss coming in overtime in 2012.

- Lafayette finished the regular season with a 12-6 overall record and a 5-1 Patriot League record. The only loss they suffered in conference play, and the lone goal they conceded was to American.
- With their 2-1 win over No. 3 Bucknell in the semifinals, The No. 2 seed Leopards improved to 13-6 overall and extended their win streak to five games coming into the Championship game. Both of Lafayette's goals came in as the result of penalty corners.
- On both corners, Josephine van Wijk executed a successful lift through the Bison goalkeeper. Each time, the junior midfielder notched shot with assistance from seniors India Ralph and Lineke Spaans at insert and stick-stop, respectively.
- A conference-best six Leopards were honored as All-Patriot League selections, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. First team laurels were given to Raffi Fragomeni, Spaans, and Makenzie Switzer while Stella Malinowski, Ralph, and Josephine van Wijk earned Second Team nods.
- Spaans leads the Leopards with 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points while Alex Darrah has 19 points from eight goals and three assists.
Major Awards

- Named to the All-Patriot League First Team alongside Underwood were midfielder Agustina Roffo and defender Tayla-Jade Weiss, both seniors on the Eagles roster.
- On the All-League Second Team was sophomore forward Jordan Reicher, who ended the regular season tied for 8th in the league for goals (7) alongside Roffo.
- For a record 12th time in his 26 years at the helm, Head Coach Steve Jennings was named the PL Coach of the Year.
