Field Hockey Announces Challenging 2026 Slate

Mark your calendars! Fans will have nine chances to catch the Eagles in action during the regular season at Jacobs

WASHINGTON –– American University field hockey head coach Steve Jennings and the Eagles are excited to take the field in 2026, welcoming a challenging schedule that features nine home games.

Two exhibition matches unofficially begin the season, the first of which will take place on August 13 against Virginia at Jacobs Complex before the Eagles head to face Temple on August 20 in Philadelphia.

The season will officially begin on the road in sunny California with two big ACC match ups against Cal (August 28) and Stanford (August 30). This is the sixth time the Eagles and the Golden Bears have met and the fifth time in meeting the Cardinal. AU hasn't played Cal since 2009 and Stanford since 2006.

After their west coast trip, the Eagles are back home for three non-conference games, taking the turf advantage against Richmond, App State, and William & Mary. Richmond and William & Mary were both road wins for the Eagles in 2025.

Back out on the road American will squeeze its first Patriot League match against Bucknell (Sep. 18) between Towson (Sep. 13) and Lock Haven (Sep. 20).

September will be rounded out with two home, non-conference contests, first against Maine on September 25 and then Providence on September 27.

American will have another conference game, this time against Lafayette, to open October, squaring off with the Leopards in Easton (Oct. 2) before taking on Rutgers (Oct. 4). The Scarlet Knights finished the season ranked 19th in the final NFHCA Coaches poll.

The Eagles will play four of their remaining five games at home in Jacobs Complex, hosting Colgate on October 10, the 2025 Patriot League Champions Boston U. on October 16, Georgetown on Oct. 18, and then Lehigh on October 31 to close out both regular season and Patriot League play. A road game against Holy Cross (Oct. 24) will be AU's penultimate contest.

The October 30 contest against Lehigh will round out American's regular season and will be AU's Senior Day & Alumni Celebration, commemorating all nine seniors for their accomplishments and dedication to the program.

Admission to all regular season field hockey home games at Jacobs Complex is free for all fans!
