- In their most recent matchup in September 2023, the Eagles recorded a 2-1 win.
Scouting the Eagles
- American had a very successful trip to Pennsylvania this past weekend. The team recorded a 1-nil win over Lafayette in an exciting matchup on Friday evening, followed by a 1-0 victory versus Penn on Sunday afternoon.
- The Eagles battled the Leopards in an even matchup, American having taken nine shots, four on goal, compared to Lafayette's eight shots, five having been on goal.
- AU took Lafayette into double overtime before senior Agustina Roffo found the back of the cage in the 72nd minute. The impressive golden-goal marked her first of the season and the moment resembled her game-winner in the 2023 Patriot League Championship against the same Lafayette squad.
- In Sunday's game, AU and Penn each had five shots on goal, but the Eagles would come away with their second shutout of the weekend.
- In the 44th minute of the game, Penn's goalkeeper deflected an AU attempt, but sophomore Elle Ridge found herself in front of the cage for the rebound. This goal lifted the Eagles 1-0, leading to a noticeable shift in momentum and morale for the final frame.
- Graduate student Bryn Underwood was a standout in the cage this weekend, making five saves in each matchup to aid the team in the two shutouts. Her performance earned her Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season.
Scouting the Raiders
- Colgate is currently 2-6 on the season, having fallen to a few tough, nationally ranked competitors. In their last showing, the Raiders dropped 0-4 versus Cornell at home on Tyler's Field.
- Earlier in the season, Colgate fought against a #14 ranked Ohio State team as well as Michigan State, losing 0-5 in both games. Colgate was able to keep both Rider and Lehigh from earning shutouts, scoring one-a-piece in each game to make the result 1-5 in both.
- Colgate's first victory on the season came from a double-overtime road win versus Central Michigan and a decisive 5-1 win at home versus Mercyhurst.
- In their matchup versus Central Michigan, junior Hannah Marcotrigaino tied the game 1-1 after CMU struck first. Junior goalkeeper Claire van Kempen recorded an impressive nine saves to take the competition into double-overtime. Sixteen seconds into the extra period, Grace Schmelzinger fed the ball to Anna Lochhead who tapped it in to end the game.
