SCOUTING AMERICAN
  • This past weekend, the Eagles took to the skies, flying Northeast for a pair of away games against Holy Cross and Brown. The Eagles went 1-1 on the weekend, dominating PL competitor Holy Cross for a 5-1 win on Saturday and dropping 2-1 versus Brown on Sunday afternoon.
  • The team's victory at Holy Cross was led by senior Agustina Roffo, whose two goals bring her to a career high of five goals this season. Sophomore Emilia Winkler, senior Kaleigh Missimer, and senior Rebecca Bonness all joined in on the action, scoring one apiece.
  • The Eagles dominated the first quarter, tallying their first point just under the 9-minute mark with a top-left conversion by Missimer. The second goal came less than a minute into the second frame when Bonness sent a merciless slapshot into the back of the cage. Continued pressure by the AU team led to Roffo's first of the day, and, coupled with a diving redirection into the cage by Winkler, the Eagles went into the break leading, 4-0.
  • The Crusaders came out hungry in the third quarter, scoring early to deny AU the shutout. The Eagles kept the opponent at bay through the remainer of the game, scoring once more on a corner where Roffo earned her second of the day to seal the deal, 5-1.
  • On Sunday, the scoring was opened by Missimer for the second time in two days. The goal was recorded at the 2:34 mark when Sophomore Emma Guydish forced her way into the circle and fed the ball to Missimer in front of the goal.
  • The Bears responded fifteen minutes later, equalizing off a give and go at the top of the circle. Seemingly gaining momentum from their goal, the Bears earned seven corners and took 13 shots, all denied by a sold AU defense led by graduate-student goalkeeper Bryn Underwood. A goal halfway through the final frame lifted the Bears over the Eagles 2-1 to end the weekend.
  • The Eagles' win at Holy Cross moves the team to 4-0 in the Patriot League, and lockdown defense by graduate-student Bryn Underwood in the cage earned her fourth Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors of the season. Across three games, Underwood made 18 saves, matching her career-high of 12 saves in the competition against Brown.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
  • With four games left in the regular season, and two against conference opponents, the Mountain Hawks sit fifth in the Patriot League with one win and three losses.
  • Lehigh played most recently at home versus Bucknell on Saturday and ended with a 6-2 loss after an early 4-0 lead from the Bison.
  • Already down 4-0, going into the second half, Lehigh tried to swim against the time of momentum that was on Bucknell's side with a goal from first-year Riley Thurston.
  • The Mountain Hawks attempted the comeback, as fifth-year Julia Gatelein scored a shot from the top of the circle, but Lehigh still trailed 4-2 with 12 minutes to play in the third quarter.
  • The Mountain Hawks played two goalies, their starter Jenny Canoni recorded three saves in the contest and sophomore, Kate Burgess, who put two saves in the books.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
  • Hofstra is headed for a matchup against the Eagles for the first time in over two decades. With three games left in the regular season, the Pride will be heading to Jacobs Field after a Friday game against Towson University.
  • Hofstra is at 3-12 overall on the season and for league play, is 1-3 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).
  • Most recently, the Pride traveled to Connecticut for a contest against Fairfield University, where they fell 1-0 after a rebound goal from the Stags in the third quarter dug in the dagger of the loss.
  • Junior Lauren Lucas recorded a defensive save, the first of her career at Hofstra.
  • Hofstra held a 6-1 advantage over Fairfield in penalty corners, and seven members of the Pride registered a shot against Fairfield.
