Lorelei Bangit of Women's Track Named Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON - She's making her mark on the American University track & field record books early in her career, and freshman Lorelei Bangit has now earned the title of Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts. After setting two school records for the Eagles at the George Mason Patriot Games this past weekend, Bangit now has a total of three school records at American.

Bangit, a freshman, set her first school record of the weekend when she won the women's 400m dash with a time of 57.90. The previous record had stood for six years. Bangit then teamed up with Grace Kirk, Adeline Dipaolo and Hannah Puckett for a school-record time of 4:06.79, earning them fourth place in the women's 4x400m relay. Their finish was over two seconds faster than the previous record set in 2015.

Next up for AU is the Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 3.
