Swim & Dive Schedule Set for 2023-24; Eagles to Host Five Meets at Home

WASHINGTON - The 2023-24 season for the American University men's and women's swimming & diving teams is set to begin soon, with the Eagles hosting the annual Potomac Relay Invitational on Friday, Sept. 22. Five home meets are on the slate for third-year head coach Garland Bartlett and the Eagles, including three duals.

HOME LINEUP
  • Following the Potomac Relays, which have AU welcoming Georgetown, George Mason, Howard and Mount St. Mary's, the Eagles will host UMBC in their first home dual meet on Saturday, Sept. 30.
  • American will welcome nearby rival Catholic University for a dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 11.
  • The final home dual meet has the Eagles facing VMI on Saturday, Jan. 13 for Senior Day.
  • AU will hold its annual Alumni Meet on Saturday, April 13 to close out the season.
PACKED SCHEDULE
  • The Eagles will match up with 12 opponents in dual, tri and quad meet action, all prior to the Navy Invitational on February 3.
  • Navy is the host site for the 2024 Patriot League Championships, set for February 21-24.
  • Road duals have the Eagles heading to Mount St. Mary's on Oct. 6, Georgetown on Oct. 13, Howard on Oct. 27 and Old Dominion on Jan. 27.
  • American will compete in a tri-meet at Loyola Maryland, with Colgate, on Nov. 3.
  • The first of three meets at Navy will take the Eagles there on Nov. 4 for a quad meet with the Midshipmen, Bucknell and Lafayette.
  • The Patriot Invitational at George Mason will be the first big early test for AU, set for Nov. 16-18 in Fairfax, Va.
TOYOTA US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
  • Bartlett will be taking senior Mimi Watts to the 2023 Toyota US Open Championship in Greensboro, N.C., at the end of November.
  • Watts, a 2022 and 2023 Patriot League First Team selection, three-time PL gold medalist and the 2023 PL Women's Swimmer of the Meet, will be competing in her fifth US Open event since arriving at American.
  • She competed in three events at last year's Toyota US Open and advanced to the B final in both the 100 fly and 200 fly, tying for third in the B final of the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.42.
