Tomma Takes Seventh; Swimming Wraps up Three Days at ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After three days at the ECAC Championships with a group of 10 competitors, the season has concluded for American University swimming and diving. The highlights of the meet included another gold medal for junior Mimi Watts and a seventh-place finish for sophomore Amaya Tomma.

On the final day of the three-day event, Tomma placed seventh in the finals of the 200 backstroke in 2:06.07 after her sixth-place prelims finish in 2:05.03.
One day prior, Tomma finished 11th in the 100 backstroke in 54.73.
Watts won the prelims of the 100 fly in a time of 52.82 that was just 0.06 off her own PR. Her finals time was slightly higher at 53.41 but a tenth of a second ahead of second-place Lily Mead from Loyola Maryland.
Junior Nicole Behrens took 15th place in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 5:15.19, and had a PR of 1:01.34 in the 100 backstroke.
In the men's 100 backstroke, junior Russel Tullius recorded a PR of 54.73, and junior Carlos Cordero had a PR of 52.25 in the 100 fly and a season-best 22.41 in the 50 free.
Junior Wil Cosgrove placed 16th with a season-best time of 16:41.46 in the 1,650 freestyle, and posted a season-best 1:47.41 in the 200 freestyle.
