WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American University women's field hockey team will be back home this weekend to host Patriot League opponents Holy Cross on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. Saturday is Senior Day for the Eagles and seniors
Imogen Hatton, Emily Horace, Kendall Jung, and Bryn Underwood will be honored in a pregame ceremony. The 2003 Patriot League Championship team, along with other alumni in attendance, will be honored in a halftime celebration.
The Eagles are 4-0 in the League and have already clinched a spot in the tournament. The team would clinch the No. 1 seed and hosting duties for the Patriot League Championships with one more win from their two remaining contests.

INSIDE THE SERIES – HOLY CROSS
- American leads the all-time series 24-4 over the Crusaders.
- The Eagles are currently 4-1 in their last five matchups with Holy Cross.
- The Crusaders however, won the last meeting between the two programs, 0-1, in October of 2022.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles are coming off a 0-2 loss against Drexel on Sunday but split the weekend 1-1 with a 3-2 OT win over Lehigh on Friday night.
- The Eagles were the first team to clinch a spot in the Patriot League tournament with their win over the Mountain Hawks and are 4-0 in the League.
- This past week, first-year Emilia Winkler has been named Patriot League Rookie of the week for her efforts against Lehigh where she picked up an assist and the game winning goal in overtime.
- Graduate student Charllene Boshoff is second in the league in game-winning goals with three. She is also fourth in goals with seven. Classmate Megan Hoffman also sits fourth in the league for assists with six.
- Senior goalkeeper Bryn Underwood is currently leading in the league in goals against with 20, she is also second in the league for save percentage (.785), and in shutouts with two. Underwood is ranked third in the league in saves per game with 5.21.
- In league play the Eagles are currently 4-0 look to extend their Patriot League win streak against Holy Cross.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS
- The Crusaders are coming off a 4-0 shutout win at home against Colgate. This was their third shutout in a row, after previously blocking out Queens College N.C. (5-0) and Lehigh (3-0).
- Senior Sarah Potter earned an honorable mention for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Offensive Player of the Week. Potter is currently sitting level with American's Charllene Boshoff in goals scored with seven and fourth in the league in game winning goals with two.
- This past week, senior Haley Davis was named PL Defensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal against Colgate. Davis currently leads the league in defensive saves with an impressive nine.
- Crusaders' senior goalkeeper Brooke Ross is currently leading the league in save percentage (.800), shutouts per game (3), and saves per game (8.00).
- The Crusaders are currently ranked fifth in the Patriot League with a record of 3-2 in conference play.
