Swim & Dive Posts Three Wins and Two Runner-Up Finishes at Bison Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three total wins and a second-place finish with a top-16 scorer in diving were the highlights for American University swimming & diving at the Bison Invite hosted by Bucknell on Saturday. Junior Mimi Watts was a part of all three wins, including two in individual races.

The women's "A" 400 medley relay team of Sophia Hemingway, Kenzie Cresci, Watts and Marissa Kleckner swam a winning time of 1:47.24. The Eagles' second foursome in that event of Laura Laux, Jacqueline Lynch-Bartek, Mary Barto and Tyler DiMarco placed fourth.
Men's 400 medley relay took fourth, as Nate Coleman, Will Deitch, Caleb Farris and Nick Buckley came in with a time of 1:34.23.
Earlier in the day, Kleckner, Avery Barber, Maddie Mara and Watts teamed up for a third-place finish in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:38.25.
The solo wins for Mimi Watts came in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.89, and in the 50 free with a time of 24.19.
In 3-meter diving for the women, Peyton Thurman took second place with a career-best score of 261.15 that ties her for fifth-place all-time at American.
Two strong individual performances came from Mary Barto in the 200 breaststroke where she placed second (2:28.61) and the 200 fly where she was fifth (2:11.61).
Nick Buckley was fourth in the men's 50 free in 21.07.
Two more top-five finishes came from Gabby Kaczorowski who was fourth in the 100 back (1:01.19) and fifth in the 200 back (2:10.15).
Overall, the women placed fourth of six teams with 476 points, while the men placed fourth of seven teams with 205 points.
