WASHINGTON - Among three wins and a runner-up finish, junior Nick Buckley of American University men's swim & dive provided a brilliant moment for the Eagles to close out a double-dual sweep of Colgate on the road on January 14. For his efforts, Buckley has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15.

Swimming the anchor leg of the men's 400 freestyle relay in the final event of the day, Buckley mounted an impressive comeback after he trailed by more than a full body length early in his sprint. He just barely out-touched the Colgate swimmer in the next lane to get the win for American in 3:11.72. Buckley took an individual win in the 50 free (21.09) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:34.65). He was the runner-up in the 100 free by just three one-hundredths of a second.

The Eagles return home to host Old Dominion for Senior Day at noon on Saturday, Jan. 21.
