WASHINGTON - It was a tough start and the situation unfortunately never improved for American University wrestling in a 48-0 loss to Columbia in Bender Arena on Friday night. With five ranked wrestlers, the Lions dominated across the entire lineup and every match was decided by bonus points.

Notable

• The Eagles suffered two losses by forfeit or default in the last three bouts of the night. 
• Grad student Colin Shannon left the mat to enter concussion protocol and was unable to return, losing by medical default to Aaron Ayzerov at 184 pounds.
• After a loss at 197 by Connor Bourne, American elected to forfeit the heavyweight bout.
• AU wrestlers Jack Maida (133) and Patrick Ryan (149) both got off to early leads with first-period takedowns, but both ultimately suffered losses by major decision.
