WASHINGTON – In their final home conference game of the season, the American University field hockey team (6-6, 2-2 PL) is facing off against Lehigh (8-5, 2-1 PL) at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. The Eagles are looking to win their final two Patriot League matches, first at home against Lehigh and away against Bucknell next week on Saturday, Oct. 22, to clinch a Championship berth.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles are coming off a 1-0 loss to Holy Cross in which the Crusaders went ahead on a penalty stroke in the 38th minute.
- Sophomore Federica Turina Dellamaggiore is tied for second in the league for goals (8), while senior Charllene Boshoff is tied for third with seven. Turina Dellamaggiore is also third in the league for points with 19.
- Goalkeeper Bryn Underwood is currently leading the league in save percentage (.828), and in shutouts with four. Underwood is also second in the league in saves per game average with 6.00.
- The Eagles home loss to Boston University (2-1) on October 1 was their first Patriot League loss since the shortened 2020 season.
- With the regular season quickly drawing closer to post-season, it should be noted that with all the other tiebreakers going on around the league, American cannot clinch a berth in the Patriot League Championship this weekend, but there is a .500 chance that they do ultimately claim a spot.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LEHIGH
- The Mountain Hawks will enter Friday's match coming off a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory over Bucknell. Lehigh are now 8-5 overall 2-1 in league play. The win also handed the Bison their first league loss on the year.
- The win was Lehigh's sixth straight, which is their longest streak since 1986.
- Senior Sydney White was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals on two shots in the Mountain Hawks victory over Bucknell, with one goal being the game-winner in overtime.
- Senior Maddie Kahn was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week with a save percentage of .762. She made four saves on the match.
- Senior Sarah Bonthuis leads Lehigh offensively for the season with eight goals while junior Abbie Brown is close behind with seven.
- Lehigh can clinch a berth in the Patriot League Championship this weekend if they defeat American and Holy Cross defeats Colgate.
