Dominguez Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In his first collegiate action on Saturday against Lehigh, Dominic Dominguez pitched a shutout between the pipes and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week when the league announced weekly awards on Monday.

Dominguez picked up four saves on the afternoon, including a couple diving stops to keep the shutout intact. It was the first clean sheet of the season for the Eagles and the first shutout since March 6, 2021 against Lehigh.

It is the first time American men's soccer has been represented in the weekly awards this season.

Jerry Zouantcha received an honorable mention from the league for his efforts on Saturday. Zouantcha scored in the 60th minute to give AU a 2-0 lead. His performance helped the Eagles to their first conference win of the season.

American will be on the road for two games this week, beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at George Mason. The Eagles will then travel to Bucknell next Saturday before returning to Reeves Field on Saturday, Oct. 9 to host Boston University.
